Hey there curvy ladies,
I’m hoping everyone is having a wonderful summer. One of the staple pieces for warmer weather are maxi dresses. They are perfect for any occasion yet comfortable. Who doesn’t want to be comfortable and cute at the same time. I know I do. What I love most about maxi dresses is their ability to be effortless. All you have to do is slip it on and pair it with the right accessories. Literally, you just throw it on and go. No fuss.
While maxi dresses are comfortable and easy, most people have a problem with the length of maxi dresses. If you are short like me maxi dresses can be troublesome because it can drag on the floor, overwhelm your petite frame, and basically, make you look frumpy. Since I am part of the vertically challenged team, I have a few easy tricks on how to make a long maxi work for short people.
Style Tip: For a causal look I always tie my long maxi dresses to side to avoid dragging NYC streets. For a dressy look I make sure I wear heels because it adds height.
Maxi dresses can be worn for myriad occasion. If you have a dressy event to go to and you want to rock a maxi dress, below are some key details you should be looking for in a maxi dress:

- Sweetheart neckline, strapless, halter top or empire waist

- Draping & belting
When dressing up a simple maxi dress you can add a belt, your favorite heels and clutch. This look is simple and can give your dress a little bit of oomph. You can also wear a blazer, stacked bangles, and a sexy pair of strappy sandals. This look is perfect for a wedding or date night look.
When it comes to rocking a maxi dress for a casual look, below are some key details you should be looking for:
- Fun prints such as stripes
- Shorter lengths
- Fabric – Jersey knit and light weight cotton
When dressing down your maxi dress pair it with a denim shirt and sneakers. You also can wear your favorite ballet flats with a cropped cardigan. This look is perfect for those shopping days or having coffee with your friends.

I just LOVE the ‘fashion to figure’ animal print maxi dress. Seriously am in love. I know lots of people shy away from color, and seriously bold prints, but that dress is so me. Only problem though is that I am in the UK! I wish I could get it here.
