As the summer is winding down, I am getting myself and my son ready for back to school. I’m starting back-to-school shopping in the beginning or middle of August because the deals are always excellent during this time.
I am super excited about this school year because my little one will be starting second grade. He is just as excited as I am. The first thing on my shopping list for back to school is, of course, notebooks and pencils, but creating a cool little wardrobe for my son is also on my list. This year, there are so many trends.
Although denim is a staple, I feel like it’s also a mega trend this year. For boys, I have been seeing tons of denim shirts, vests, and jackets. Recently, I snagged the cutest little denim shirt for my son and decided to create a denim-on-denim look that would be perfect for back to school.
Next to pencils, notebooks, and cool clothes, footwear is another important thing. My son loves basketball sneakers and his favorite color is red, so when I saw these red, gray, and black Nike sneakers from DSW, I knew he would love them. They also were a nice match with his denim-on-denim look.
Once I get the little one out of the way, I like to look casual and cool too.
Dropping my son off to school, picking him up, and taking him to his extracurricular activities can be a lot sometimes, so, during the back-to-school season, I try to upgrade my wardrobe too. Since I do a lot of running around during the week, I like to slip on a pair of sneakers for comfort and ease. I fell in love with these gray and coral New Balance sneakers from DSW.
