Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I think I found the steal of the month with this dress. During one of my lunch break shopping adventures I found this striped number at DeJaniro, one of my secret spots in NYC for plus size clothes. This striped dress only cost me $8. Yup, you heard me right. DeJaniro is a mix of an outlet store because it carries retail brands like Old Navy, NY&Company, and a few department store brands. It also carries its fair share of wholesale plus size items.
Now, on to today’s title. So, I am quite sure some will cringe at that fact that me a big girl is not only wearing horizontal stripes but wide stripes, even worse. From day one of starting my blog, I always said, I never believed in the no horizontal stripes rule. Yes, some stripes can make you look bigger or wider, but for me, I am comfortable enough in my skin to wear what I like despite if it makes me look bigger. I get that is not the case for everyone. Being comfortable with your body takes time.
To be honest, I like when my body looks thick and stacked (urban slang) and that’s how I felt this dress made me look. In comparison to other things that I’ve worn on this blog, the dress does make me look bigger, however, in my opinion, I think it still looks good. I look voluptuous and juicy for lack of a better word, but I felt sexy wearing this dress. Sometimes, you have to put your body fears aside and wear what you like. If it makes you look and feel good, like this dress did for me, then by all means, wear it.
Whenever, I wear black and white, you know I have to add a pop of color. I opted for my yellow ankle strap platform sandals from Aldo’s and my Michael Kors Hamilton tote. For accessories, I went with a gold chain link necklace, chandelier earrings, and studded pyramid bracelet.

I like the fact that this dress, as you say, makes you feel good and sexy, that’s all you need to know. As I have said on fb, anyway, to me it’s not about the big bold horizonatal stripes, the effect is given by the cut. I love stripes and I make a point to wear what makes me feel good, rules are for people who lack fantasy and personality.

YES! Love the deal, love the styling (the choice of a bright yellow shoe was inspired!), and LOVE the pody positive message. Looking “bigger” is not the ultimate sin, no matter how many times we’ve been told that it is. You look incredible in this.
