Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I will say that 70% off my wardrobe consists of work appropriate clothes. Within that 70% I am able to mix and match pieces that can take me from desk to dinner and even from work to weekend. Putting together a work wardrobe that is stylish, on trend, and yet professional takes time, a good eye for fashion, and the ability to understand your lifestyle needs. When I shop for work wear, I am always thinking about how many times can I wear a piece, does it go with more than three pieces I already own, and does it fit my personal style? Asking myself those questions have saved me from buying things I really didn’t need and also saving money.
Each year, I update my work wadrobe. The first thing I look for are dresses. I try to go for trendy styles in classic silhouettes. If you’re in the UK ASDA George’s women’s clothing offers some very chic dresses for plus size women and misses too. One of my favorites is this leopard peplum dress. It covers you up but it most definitely shows off your shape. The peplum is flattering on all body types.
Dresses are easy to play around with. You can obviously wear them to work with a blazer or you can add a little edge to them by throwing on a tough biker jacket. During the colder months I like to layer skirts over dresses with tights for a non bulky sleek look. I don’t over load on dresses. I pick about 3 or 4 that have completely different styles. After dresses, my focus is always on shirts and blouses. Sometimes I feel like I never have enough shirts and blouses. Personally, I am a fan of printed blouses because they add flair to your looks and they pair easily with basics.
If you’re in the UK shopping at online sites like George at ASDA makes it really easy for you to find great quality shirts blouses, and dresses. They offer sizes from a UK 10-UK24 in just about every style. The prices are affordable, which means they won’t break the bank.
Once you’ve bought all the pieces that fit your workwear needs and personal style, then the next step is to shop for shoes and accessories. I love shoes so I really take my time on finding quality shoes that are modern and comfortable for long workdays yet stylish enough to wear for drinks afterwork.
No work wardrobe is complete without a structured handbag or two. You can go for classic colors like black and brown or you can spice things up by trying a navy or a snakeskin tote. I like totes and shoppers because it can hold everything from your iPad to flats. You can basically throw everything you need in it.
After the bag your work wardrobe is complete and if you shopped smart you can carry quite a few of your pieces into the next season.
