Hey curvy girls all over the world,
What would you do if you were married and found out your husband had two mistresses? This scenario is exactly what the latest Fox movie “The Other Woman” is about. This week I was invited to get a private screening of “The Other Woman” starring Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Kate Upton, and Nicki Minaj.
When I first saw the previews for this movie, I already knew it was something I wanted to see. I could already imagine people picking up movie posters and having them plastered over their walls as soon as they saw this film. Especially, when I found out that the iconic Patricia Field was the stylist for the film. It’s funny how now, I am completely more interested in what actresses are going to wear in a movie more so than the movie itself. During the private screening Patricia Field showed up and we were treated to a little Q&A with her about the style of Cameron, Nicki, Kate, and Leslie.
First, let me say, that Cameron Diaz’s character was dressed to the tens. Cameron was a lawyer who was confident, sexy, and a little sassy. Every piece she wore in the movie translated that. Cameron made office wear look sexy. During our Q&A with Patricia she said she wanted to give Cameron sleek fitted pieces and when it came to her work wardrobe she focused on a color palette of black and white. Cameron rocked out in structured white blazers and blouses finished off with sleek body hugging pencil skirts.
Leslie Mann’s character was all about the suburban wife who is sort of like a stepford wife. During the q&a with Patricia Field, she said she wanted to focus on bright colors and prints with Leslie’s character. As the wife, Leslie Mann was outfitted in lots of floral printed dresses topped off with a cardigan. For the casual looks, Leslie wore a lot of capri pants with matching tops.
When it came to Kate Upton, it was no surprise that her character was a young sexy bombshell. Patricia said they found the perfect white bikini to flatter Kat’s voluptuous body and the rest of her looks were casual beach babe looks like cut off denim shorts and billowy tops.
Patricia said the character they had the most fun with was no other than Nicki Minaj. No surprise there. Field didn’t actually style Nicki but her assistant did. I felt like Nicki’s on screen looks were a more refined version of what we normally see her in.
The fashion in this movie is true to each character. My favorite was Cameron Diaz’s and I am already working on some black and white fierce office looks for next week.
Besides the fashion the other woman was ridiculously and sometimes obnoxioulsy funny. Leslie Mann was outstanding in her comedic role. Cameron Diaz was her usual cool, confident, sassy self, and Nicki Minaj was cute and funny. Kate Upton even surprised me a little bit. She played the young, slightly bone head blonde but she held her own along side Cameron and Leslie.
The Other Woman comes out next Friday. It is definitely a must see, especially if you need some new spring and summer looks.
