Hey curvy girls all over the world,
When Melissa McCarthy debut her very first clothing line this past summer (read HERE), I was super excited. I love when celebrities design clothes that fits their personal style. After seeing the promotional photos for the collection, I knew I had to get a couple of pieces. My first impression of the looks was they were cute casual pieces that the everyday woman could wear to work and on the weekend. One piece that caught my eye was a plaid black & white midi pencil skirt. I am a sucker for pencil skirts, especially printed ones.
WIW: Michael Kors Jacket (similar HERE), Charlotte Russe Turtleneck, Melissa McCarthy Skirt (gifted), ASOS Pumps
There were some key elements about the skirt that made me love it. First, the banded elastic waist flattened out my gut. Anytime a piece of clothing can make it look like you have a flat stomach, it’s a winner in my book.
I also liked that the skirt was fitted all the way to the knee. It also had lots of stretch but still gave a structured fit. I was able to size down.
You guys know one of my fave color combos is blue, black, and white. I decided to style the skirt with my blue leather moto jacket from Michael Kors, a ribbed turtleneck, and a pair of black suede pumps.
I thought the look was a great option for fall and perfect for a date, and even hanging out with your girls. This skirt has truly become a favorite after just one wear.
I kept my makeup simple and went with a cranberry lip from Wet n Wild.
I felt very New York City chic in this look.
