Figuring out what to wear when its cold can be a bit of a task. However, it doesn’t have to be. I’ve figured out a simple and easy formula to look cute everyday. There are certain key pieces that you need to achieve a stylish daytime winter look.
Just because its cold, that doesn’t mean you have to look drab or boring. You can have fun with your winter looks. One of the major key pieces you need to create a stylish daytime winter look is a statement winter coat. Outerwear is key because it can take the most simplest outfit and make it more interesting.
Statement Plus Size Coats
If you’re looking for statement plus size coats, then checkout Modcloth. They have a slew of plus size winter coats in a variety of colors and prints. Currently, I’ve been in love with their Intelligent Around Town Belted Coat. It’s colorful and the style of the coat is chic and flattering.
The second piece you need (and probably already have) is a pair of modern jeans. Go for a pair of jeans that have some detail on them. Maybe try a distressed pair or pair of skinny jeans with a fringe hem.
I found a great pair of skinny jeans with a fringe hem from Lane Bryant. It paired very well with the plaid Modcloth coat.

The next piece you should own is a casual basic top. A long sleeve tee, turtleneck, v-neck or crew neck t-shirt. The casual basic pieces create balance and pull together statement looks.
I found a white lightweight turtleneck from Amazon’s Daily Ritual brand. The turtleneck helped to pull the ensemble together. The white color complimented the jeans and the multiple colors in the coat.
Last, I added a pair of tan colored ankle boots. The tan color in the boots brought out the yellow in the coat and complimented the blue colors in the coat and jeans.
This look was simple and easy to put together. I let the statement coat do all the talking for me and just added a pair of jeans and a basic top to pull everything together.
