Hey curvy girls all over the world,
I am so excited to share with you a little project I did with Plus Model Magazine. For those of you that may not know, I am the shopping and style editor for plus model magazine. A few weeks ago one of my mentors and EIC of PMM, Madeline Jones aka “Maddy” emailed me and was like I want to do a real woman shoot and I want you to style it. I want you to style 5 women in real denim looks perfect for their body types. I was like, What?! Nah! Who, me? I had never styled anyone but myself before. Oh, wait. I did style a Fashion to Figure contest winner but that was years ago.
In order to get me to do it, Maddy said something that had struck me hard. She said the most simplest thing. I believe in you. Coming from her that meant so much because she is a real deal no nonsense person that tells the truth whether you like it or not. Once she said that. I said okay, I will do it. Sometimes all you need is someone to believe in you and your talents.
This was an opportunity that gave me the chance to challenge myself and to show that I can do anything I put my mind to. You see, sometimes other people and ourselves can put us in one box and try to limit our skills. Sometimes we have to challenge ourselves to tap into other skills and talents we may have never thought we could had. This photoshoot was just that for me.
Now, without further ado, checkout the denim looks I created for 5 real women. I also just wanted to share how confident these women were with the their bodies. Seeing women of all shapes and sizes embrace their curves, creases, and rolls while being unapologetic, was truly inspiring.
So, how did I do?
