If you already love Nordstrom, then you’re going to love them even more. Nordstrom has announced that they will be expanding their extended sizes in some of your favorite brands. Now to be clear, the extended sizes they are adding more of range from 14-18. Basically you will see more of sizes XXL and sizes 14-18. Brands that stopped at a size 12 now go up to a size 16 or 18. This is Nordstrom’s way of offering more size inclusive brands. They’re expanding extended sizing to 30 stores and 100 brands.
Brands like Nike, Adidas, and Beyond Yoga have now added size XXL. Paige denim has added up to a size 34.Theory and Rebecca Taylor have now added sizes 14 and 16. Even some of Nordstrom’s private label brands have added on more sizes. Halogen, Zella, and Nordstrom signature offer up to size 18 and XXL. To many this may not sound like a big deal but it really is. Some of these brands have only gone up to a size 12 for years. In addition, this is beneficial to women who are categorized as inbetweenies or on the lower spectrum of plus.
Nordstrom’s vice president and general merchandise manager for women’s apparel, says, “The industry really needed a retailer to be the voice of customers and ask for more sizes,” “It’s been hard work and we’re making progress. We’re thrilled more and more brands are extending their offerings to this population of stylish women who were previously missed. We remain focused, inspired and committed to inclusivity and having more sizes available to serve customers.”
If you’re thinking, what about plus sizes? Don’t worry. According to Fashionnetwork, “Nordstrom hopes to further expand extended sizing for its upcoming Anniversary Sale, with plans for a number of its own private-label brands to offer pieces up to size 24. Fall 2018 will also see the arrival of new inclusively proportioned mannequins in 30 Nordstrom stores, while the company continues to negotiate extended sizing with European brand partners.”
So, starting in July, we should start seeing more plus sizing available.
