Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Last month myself, the Editor of Plus Model Mag (Madeline Jones), two other bloggers (Ty of Gorgeous & Grey, Allison of Curvy Girl Chic), and two models (Fluvia Lacerda & Ivory May) were all asked to be part of the Women of Style challenge presented by Plus Model Magazine in partnership with Ulla Popken. The challenge was to find a few items from The Ulla Popken site and style it in a way that reflected our personal styles. All of our best looks would be featured in the November issue of PMM.
Now, I have to keep it real with you because, I don’t know any other way to be. At first glance of visiting the Ulla Popken site, I thought there was nothing that they offered that would fit my style. Naturally I was apprehensive of being part of the project for that reason. Then I got to thinking, well, if you’re a woman of style then you should be able to take anything and put a stylish spin on it. So, I put my feelings aside and took the challenge.
I scoured the site for pieces that I thought would be easy and simple to style. It wasn’t until day two of checking out the site that I realized Ulla Popken had some really cute basic plus size tops. I settled on this houndstooth knit tunic. Houndstooth is a fall trend and I liked that they offered the tunic in other colors besides black and white. Pink is my favorite color and I thought the pink and black combination would go well with my skin tone.
I paired the tunic with a leather pencil skirt, a wide width stretch belt, and a pair of suede ankle boots. I really liked the tunic and have other outifit ideas for it. On the day of the shoot, the PMM team treated me with kindness and patience. I truly enjoyed being a model for the day. I’ve always wanted to be a model but I think I lacked passion, which is why I never really pursued it, so when blogging brings these opportunites, I take full advantage. You would hire me as a model right? LOL! Seriuoulsy this was a great shoot and thanks to Jo for doing my makeup & hair, she rocked it.
