Plus size swimsuit trends are heating up this year!
Cut Outs:
Although your tan lines won’t appreciate it – your curves will! Swimwear with cut outs give you an opportunity to show off some skin and accentuate your curves without covering up. Monif C has mastered the art of the cut out and this season she’s had a number of fun styles incorporating this look; Swimsuitsforall is back for another season of even more cutting edge styles from their SwimSexy collection. They incorporated cut-outs in fun patterns and sleek looks. Robyn Lawley’s line has a cute cut out on the bust, and independent designer Gisella Ramirez has restocked her popular bold and risqué bondage suit.
Sheer & Mesh:
At any price point, sheer and mesh styles have also made a big splash this season; incorporating mesh into your swimsuit gives you the illusion of the cut out without actually showing the full-on skin. ASOS has a subtle ruched mesh inset; and Forever21 incorporated the mesh panel at the bust with a fun print. Always4Me gives you a great mesh option also at the bust – and if you dare – Nakimuli has a sexy sheer panel for you bold ladies.
Ruffles:
For swimwear it’s always hard to find the happy medium for the ruffle: too much and it will bulk you up – not enough and your swimsuit could fall flat. This season, there have been a few styles with great ruffle detail, like BECCA ETC on this season’s swim line (check out the full piece too). Forever21 hit a home run with strategically placed ruffles on their bikini and one pieces and SwimsuitsForAll adds a playful ruffle to a great tankini.
Greco – Roman Glam:
We’ve seen a big trend this season for Greece and Roman inspired sandals, accessories and it’s even moved to swimsuits. Who needs a toga when you can slip on the ruched shirred blue ombre Badgely Mischika suit or Modcloth’s black and white wrap illusion suit. Simply Be’s has a striking unique take on this look with a blouson cut and Shore Club’s take on a deep pink rolled toga will fit your curves perfectly. Sorella Swim’s entire collection takes this glam look in jewel tones and metallic and my person favorite Land’s End gives a solid structure without losing a bit of glam!
Playful Prints
Lastly, my favorite of swim season is Fun Prints! Bathing suits are meant to be colorful and loud in my book and you can’t go wrong with the fun prints from this summer’s hottest designers. I love to mix and match tops and bottoms to create new looks and this is the best way to keep your collection fresh. Nakimuli and Rue107 translate their unique prints from bodycons into great swimsuits. I have brought from both of these companies and their workmanship and quality is impeccable. You can never go wrong with fun prints from ASOS they have watermelon and other cute prints this season. I am truly obsessed with newcomer Josephine Swim’s prints and shapes and can’t wait debut them on my summer travels.
