Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Last year I introduced you guys to the modern, African, chic, designer brand Rue 114. A new designer that creates clothes for all women of all shapes and sizes. Rue 114’s debut collection was nothing short of sexy, feminine styles. Well, the budding design house is back with their A/W 2012 collection.
This season Rue 114 entitled their collection tthe Afua Bempomme and it is named after the designers stylish mother Mrs. Regina Afua Bempomaa Ohemeng-Asante. Rue 114 says that “This collection presents a Rue twist on African fashion that relies less so on traditional prints and more so on intricate embroidery and bead work found throughout much of the African design aesthetic. In the Akan tradition of Ghana, West Africa; each child is given a specific name based on gender and the day of their birth. As we seek to tell the story of every woman, we thought it appropriate to name each piece after a female “day of the week” name.”
From the rich warm leaf colored hues to the intricate detailing this is a collection that invokes a spirit of confidence, sophistication, and class. I love the African inspired prints and glam detailing on the dresses and jumpsuits. This is a designer I can’t wait to see more from.
