Hey curvy girls all over the world,
During my visit in Baltimore I wore two very budget friendly pieces and in my opinion you would never guess that my entire look minus the shoes cost less than $100. I like to have a closet filled with different brands and I buy my clothes at different price points. Some high and some low. I love my designer name brands but I am also a girl who loves bargains just like the next person. When it comes to buying from the lower priced stores it’s important to look at the material to make sure it’s the best material for that price point.
For example, my beige ruffle top is from Norma Kamali’s Walmart line. It’s a polyester blend but the style and cut makes it look a bit more expensive than the $12 I paid for it.
You all know I am a lover of shorts. These shorts are from Kmart’s revamped plus line called love your style, love your size. I paid $14 for the shorts and you would never know. Once again the cut and style is what plays a major role. The shorts are loose like a pair of culottes and the gold band waist adds to the quality of the material.
My tips for pulling off low end pieces top to bottom is to:
– When wearing low end pieces dark or neutral colors are best for looking like you spent more than you did.
-Steer clear from loose or unraveling threads
-Make sure the cuts and styles are flattering
– Mix low with high

Great tips! I was recently at Old Navy, and didn’t know how to discriminate between pieces I would wear and pieces that would look cheap the minute I put them on at home. This is very helpful 🙂

I would’ve never thought Kmart or Walmart would have something like this! Both pieces look absolutely marvelous hun!

Alissa I love how you’re rocking those shorts. As a curvy/plus size lady I steer away from trousers and shorts because I was afraid of the silhouette that they give off but this look has inspired me to go look for some loose plus size shorts and rock em! Thank you and I love your blog!!

@Melissa,
Thank you so much. I find that the dressier draped shorts work better for me.

I have a tee by Norma Kamali that’s lasted a few years. These are rules that I live by especially because I’m a thrift-a-holic.
