Hey curvy girls all over the world,
In today’s plus size fashion news:
Modcloth takes an unusual approach to representing women in the most honest way possible. The California based retailer has taken the “Heroes Pledge For Advertisers” which requires advertisers to be upfront about their photo-shopping tactics. The pledge states:
“Not to change the shape, size, proportion, color and/or remove/enhance the physical features, of the people in [their] ads in post-production” — or, if they do, to label the image to make clear that those alterations have taken place.”
Modcloth’s CMO says, We don’t have professional models on our site and we’ve been doing this since 2002. “We’ve never been a company that has misrepresented or altered the photos of our models, we’ve had hundreds of independent designers all produce clothing on our site and we’ve really worked hard to ensure they’re for women of all sizes.”
Well, good for you Modcloth.

Next up, is Wet Seal:
The inclusive retailer has been making strategic moves to advance and strengthen their fast fashion brand. With the relaunch of their plus size selections two years ago, Wet Seal has recently announced that they would be turning all their Arden B stores into Wet Seal Plus +size stores.
Lord knows we need more brick and mortar stores that carry plus sizes, so I am excited and here for this news from Wet Seal.
This Saturday August 16th, Wet Seal will be hosting grand opening events in 30 Wet Seal Plus stores across the country. The only downside is that there won’t be any in the NYC metro area. If you live in NYC, you will have to troop it to New Jersey.
