Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Ever since my first official grown woman office job back in 2003, I have always felt and maintained that office style does not have to be boring. It just needs to be polished, professional, and have a little flair. Being young and dressing for work in corporate America can be formidable. You want to show that you’re mature, smart, and professional without having to wear a boring old gray boxy suit. the good thing is that office dress codes have changed dramatically. Especially during the spring and summer. Company CEO’s are younger and want to create a more relaxed office environment. I remember back in the day when you still had to wear stockings in 80 degree weather. Now, you can go bare legged as long as you have a conservative dress or skirt length.
I’m lucky because my office dress code is dressy casual. I can wear a maxi dress, sleeveless, and open toe shoes as long as my look is polished. This gives me room to play around with my wardrobe and buy pieces that are transitional. They can take me from the office to drinks after work. Case in point, this Calvin Klein plus asymmetrical Moto Dress. I am obsessed with it. I originally spied this moto dress at Lord & Taylor. They had it in black and teal. Unfortunately they did not have my size. I searched and searched online for the teal color but could only find black in my size.
I happened to go on Macy’s website and they had a picture of the dress in orange. I was like, jackpot! However they only had black left. I decided to go to Macy’s in Staten Island and what do you know. They had the orange in my size. I tried it on and was just so amazed at how the color made my skin look so golden bronze
I accessorized the dress with a tribal print tote from Doro Olowu for JCPenney, a jeweled encrusted bracelet, a chain link necklace, and a gold cuff bracelet.
I wore a pair of ankle strap nude and orange sandals for a cute summer look that could take me from the office to drinks. For makeup, I kept my face neutral and did a bold red lip with YSL’s rouge in Danger.
