Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Today’s workwear Wednesday post is for the readers who work in Corporate America. Like I always say, dressing for the office has dramatically changed over the years to a more relaxed and free spirited dress code. However, some women still need to have that polished suit look and if you’re one of those women, you will behappy to know that the skirt suit is back and they are better than ever.
In all honesty, the skirt suit has never left or fallen out of fashion but like everything in fashion, when designers start taking a new interest in something it suddenly becomes the hot trend. When I went to fashion week in February to see the fall 2014 shows, skirt suits were everywhere, from Altuzarra to Chanel.
Thank God plus size fashion is evolving because a few brands have already started producing some chic and modern skirt suits that women of all ages can appreciate.
Currently, my personal fave is this emerald color contrast suit from Eloquii. It has a black notch collar and a wrap skirt. This suit is perfect for a young woman in her mid 20’s through her 30’s. This suit is the essence of modern and chic. Also, Eloquii has a new workwear line of classic pant and skirt suits.

Another skirt suit I like is from Simply Be. It is a magenta colored suit with a textured peplum jacket and midi skirt.

If you’re not into super bright colors then you may want to try a printed skirt suit. Carmakoma offers a classic houndstooth printed set with a flattering a-line skirt. This suit has a youthful yet sophisticated appeal.

Ann Taylor also has some amazing suits for plus size women up to a size 18.
Lane Bryant’s Ponte pencil skirt and double weave jacket also make for a professional yet chic skirt suit.

The great thing about each of these suits and any suit for that matter is the fact that you can mix and match them. Which will give you more outfit options.
Are you a skirt suit kind of girl?

I *live* for the skirt suit!!! It is a relief to see more and more designers recognizing that we plus-size women are not only partying it up in the club and in the streets, but also climbing the corporate ladder!

LOL @curvy ceo We are not always at the club. I have other events to go to in my life.

^^^But don’t you feel like designers think that sometimes? For a while there I was like, “Uh, can a sistah get a blazer that wasn’t meant for Grandma?” I appreciate the bodycon and freakum dresses but I had to become a scavenger to find suitable businesswear! That was really the inspiration behind my blog 🙂
