If there is one fashion trend that I think is being slept on, its the organza trend. I’ll admit that I didn’t pay much attention to it until this past summer. My craving for the sheer fabric made from silk intensified when the fall season came around. It was a late night browsing session on Zara.com that led me to a slew of perfectly designed organza tops with puff sleeves and organza dresses with tie neck details. It was then that I became hooked on the organza trend.
Why There Is A Lack Of Plus Size Organza Options
I’m a true plus size woman, I can’t always fit Zara pieces. So, I knew I needed to find some plus size options. I scoured the internet to find some stylish plus size organza tops and dresses. Unfortunately the options were limited. Sometimes plus size brands are a little late to certain trends when they’re popular and we wind up getting them a year later when they’re no longer on trend. That’s why I felt it was my mission to find the organza trend in plus sizes.
Thanks to ASOS, Pretty Little Thing, and blogger Blaire Edee’s Nordstrom Halogen collection, I found some pretty eyebrow raising and head nodding styles that will make you want to add at least one piece to your wardrobe. First, let me start off with two of my favorite plus size organza pieces.
My Favorite Organza Tops
New Look Curve Organza Puff Sleeve Top
This simple sheer beauty is one of my most recent finds. It’s by New Look but I bought on ASOS. A top like this has flair and works well dressed down with jeans or dressed up with a skirt. The puff sleeves make the top a bit more interesting and the sheerness gives a sexy and edgy vibe. You can go all out it just rock this with a bra like the model or rock a camisole underneath it.
My styling choice was to dress the top down with a pair of frayed hem skinny jeans. Instead of a regular black bra, I opted for a lace longline balconette bra from Lane Bryant. I love a good pair of heels, so I zipped up a pair of suede ankle boots from Aldo shoes.

Cacique’s longline bra gave me the coverage I wanted and felt most comfortable with. It’s truly a beautiful bra. The only downside is that the side boning in the bra begins to dig into your skin after about two hours of wear. I know they say beauty is pain but fashion can be painful too. However, the side poking wasn’t that bad, especially because it made my boobs look so good under the organza top.
Cacique Longline Balconette Bra
A trick I learned to do with black longline bra’s under sheer tops, is to wear a pair of black stockings or black highwaisted underwear and tuck them under the bra for a seamless look. That’s exactly what I did.
To add a touch of sophistication to this ensemble that’s showing off my cute bra, I went with a wool camel colored coat from Baacal. Designed by Cynthia Vincent. The camel, black, and light blue wash from the denim exuded a little street style vibes.
In addition to the first organza top, my second favorite organza plus size top is from the Blair Eadie collection at Nordstrom. Blair created the cutest plaid organza blouse with a slight obnoxiously large bow and I love it so much.
In my humble opinion, every fashion loving woman should have this piece in their closet. Just like the New Look organza top, I styled Blair’s Halogen blouse the same way. With this piece, I went for dark wash denim and a pair of suede nude ankle strap sandals and an orange leather circle bag.
