Hey curvy girls all over the world,
So the first day of NYFW was a light day for me. Whenever shows are during the week, more than likely I am coming from work so I try to keep my looks chic and colorful. Fall/Winter fashion week is my least favorite because it is ridiculously cold. With this winter in NYC its been freezing cold and snowy since December, which made me want to skip this round of hitting the shows at Lincoln Center. However, since I am trooper and I genuinely enjoy going to the shows, I decided to put my layering skills to the test to stay warm and focus on eye catching outerwear to standout.
The focus on this look was all about the tweed panel coat from Simply Be (get it here). Hands down in my opinion, Simply Be has THE best plus size coats. They’re always trendy and stylish. I love the look of this coat. I just wished I got it one size larger. It fits and I can zip it but when you have a big butt, sometimes single breasted coats can give you a boxy shape from the side. This is the reason why I threw it over my shoulder and wore it as a cape.
I love a good skater dress but sometimes skater dresses can be too short in the back. These are big booty girl problems. Surprisingly this Forever 21 plus blue scuba fabric skater dress length was just right and looked even better with a pair of sheer black stockings from No Nonsense. It”s a sleeveless dress so I layered it over a black and white color contrast button down also from Simply Be.
Rocking single soled heels when there is snow and ice on the ground is not cute (in my opinion) unless you are one of those people who take a cab everywhere. I take mass transit to shows so, I really can’t do that, which is why I wear flat boots until I reach my destination and then I throw on my heels. With this look I chose a pair of platform rugged grip high heel boots from Jessica Simpson that laced up. I’ve had these boots for about 4 years and they’re still going strong. I like the grips because it helps with slipping and sliding plus they’re super comfortable even though they are about 4 inches high. The platform helps keep me feet balanced.
Black leather gloves and studded silver bracelets complimented the look.
