Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Last month, I was invited to attend Family Dollar’s 2-day Fabulous event in Atlanta Georgia. Some of you may remember when I went to the event last year (seen HERE). This year the event was more grande and filled with some of the top hair and beauty brands for women of color. It was bigger and better in general this year. Everything had been ramped up, from the food available to the decor – there was even a large flagpole outside the venue with Family Dollar’s company image on it, so guests knew exactly where to go to. I wonder what next year will be like!
The first day of the event started out with myself and a few of my blogging buddies getting on a bus to visit the World of Coca Cola. For my look, I kept things simple in a leopard print top from Boohoo and a black pleated skirt from Torrid.
The world of Coca Cola was so interesting. It felt like I went through a time machine at the museum.
After the World of Coca Cola, we headed back to the hotel and got prepared to go to the Fabulous beauty event.
hair brands like Cantu,Creme of Nature, and more all had booths at the event. I stopped by the Creme of Nature booth and we chatted about some of their best selling products like their leave in conditioner spray.
and after getting schooled on their latest hair products I received a cartoon drawing.
I then headed over to the Ultra Sheen booth to checkout their new products and packaging. They went with a pink and black theme. The packaging was much more sleek and they now have products for all your styling needs.
In the middle of visiting the booths, I ran into Atlanta Housewives alum and Fashion Queens host Miss Lawrence.
Then I headed over to LA Colors to checkout their new makeup and ran into celebrity makeup artist Cyndie Watson.
I also checkedout the Unilever booth because they carry some of my fave hair beauty products like motions and Tresemme..
I continued on and was surprised to the Goody hair company at the event. They weren’t last year, so this was a nice surprise. Goody was sharing with us their affordable hair accessories available at Family Dollar.
After our first day of booth visits, the night ended with a cocktail party and I whipped out an old favorite dress of mine from IGIGI.
The next day, we were all treated to breakfast on the lawn of our hotel. It was a southern style breakfast with grits, biscuits, sausage, and eggs.
I hooked up with my blogging boo’s again and we started the day with a selfie using a crystal encrusted selfie stick gifted to us by Family Dollar.
We went back to the booths to chat with more brands. Also, for those of you that don’t know, Family Dollar offers clothes at super duper affordable prices called “Just Be.” Oh, and yes they offer plus sizes up to a 3X
They’ve tapped celebrity stylist Lloyd Boston to style the looks.
He did such a great job on showing us how the pieces could be styled.
We then took a break for a panel discussion wioth brand ambassadors like celebrity hairstylist Ursula Stephens, Larry Sims, Johnny Wright, and Chilli from TLC.
The panel was sponsored by Ebony magazine and editor Kiernan Mayo.
After a long two days, the event ended with a fashion show of Family Dollar’s Just Be line
African Pride sponsored a free concert for us featuring R&B star Tank.
For the concert, I wore a purple draped dress from Fashion To Figure
And then I went up to my room, went to sleep, and got ready for my 6am flight back to NYC. I had such a great time at the event. Thank you Family Dollar for inviting me back.
