Here at Stylish Curves we try to educate and bring valuable information to you. This post shy’s away from fashion but has everything to do with it. It’s time to share tips on how to organize your closet and stop spending valuable time staring at it every morning and feeling like you have nothing to wear. We’ve all been there. You’re 15 minutes late to work because you can’t find that cardigan to go with your pencil skirt or you’re getting ready to hang out with your girls but can’t find the right pair of shoes to go with that mini skirt because it’s buried under a pile of clothes.
We deem it necessary for every girl to revamp their closet at least once a year but organizing it as the seasons change is also a great way to maintain a clutter-free clothing zone. We are sharing a couple of simple ways to make more room. It’s A New Year and time to get organized. If you need some additional help with your clutter-filled life, you may want to look into professional organizer services online or in your area so you can get everything put together in the way you need it.
Here are tips for organizing your closet on a budget
The first step of course is to purge. It’s time to get rid of those things you haven’t worn in a year or more. Look at your closet with a fresh eye and only keep those things that fit you right now and that you truly love. It’s liberating, I promise.
Clothing
You want your closet to be clean and organized and most of all, you want your closet to look pretty, right? I like to group items by color and category. Pants, tops, skirts, and dresses. By doing so you’ll be amazed with how easy it is to find things, plus it gives your closet a more uniformed look. Make sure your hangers are the same size and color. In our best Joan Crawford voice, “No more wire hangers!” We love huggable hangers or wooden hangers. They will fit all your clothing needs.
Sweaters
Always fold sweaters and never hang them because you don’t want them to stretch out. You can fold them and keep them in a dresser drawer or you cans use a sweater boxed to keep them stacked and organized.
Accessories
When it comes to jewelry, you might want to organize in accordance with the different types of necklace chains, sizes and occasion. This can help you segregate your neck pieces in a better manner, and you might be able to find them easily as well.
I suggest a hanging organizer for necklaces and bracelets this will keep you from digging through a cluttered box when in a rush. If you are in no mood to spend heavily on an organizer, there is a cheaper alternative as well. You can use sugru metal adhesive and glue or a similar gum. It tends to be a mouldable glue that can be easily pasted anywhere to hang anything up to two kilograms of weight. That said, you can choose any of these depending on your budget and requirements. Whatever you pick, make sure that it can protect your accessories from getting scratched or stained.
Purses
We all have more than enough purses so why not get an over-the-door hanging rack, this is a good way to keep track of your handbag inventory and clear some space on shelves. For hats, scarves, and gloves try decorative baskets. These can be stored at the top or bottom of your closet making it easier to keep track of items.
Shoes
When getting dress, I like to be able to see all my shoes. This makes it easy for me when putting together outfits. I group my shoes by color and type. Shoe racks are the easiest way to stay organized and you can find them as low as $15. You can even turn a bookshelf into a shoe rack.
If you don’t have the space to use shelves for your shoes, stacking bins or plastic shoe boxes are another fantastic option to store those snazzy heels.
It is very important to keep your wardrobe organized. If you’re like me then you’re attached to every item you purchase. Why not treat it with care. Organizing your closet will keep you sane and make getting dress a lot easier. You can now use that extra 15 minutes to sleep.
