When it comes to cheap fast fashion clothing Fashionnova and Shein are at the top of most fashion lover’s list. These two brands are winning over celebrities and everyday folks like you and me. Not only are they getting dollars from straight sized women, they have tapped into the plus size market too. Like many I was curious and wanted to try these brands. I tried Fashionnova plus size clothing and had mixed views. Now I’m trying Shein plus size clothing with a little twist. In addition to trying Shein plus size clothes, I’m comparing how they look on me against the Shein plus size model.
Shein Plus Size Clothing Try On
Why am I comparing my body against a model? Well, sometimes when it comes to shopping plus size clothing online its hard to get an idea of how things will look on a fuller figure when the model being used is about a size 10/12. So, if you’ve never tried Shein plus size clothing before, I’m showing you how some of their clothes fit a fuller plu size body. My plus size body.
I didn’t want to just bombard you with photos. So, I decided to do a video trying on a few pieces from Shein. You can watch the video below. First, here’s some of my thoughts about Shein plus size clothing.
Shein Sizing
Shein sizes run very small. I would say they are junior plus but some of the pieces I tried were difficult to fit into it. The most important thing you can do to ensure getting the best size is to read the size chart. Shein has a size chart for each of their pieces. For example, if they say an item goes up to a 3X the size chart will show you the waist and hip measurements for the 3X. I’ve also found that a 3X in Shein is equivalent to a 1X in true plus sizes. If you see pieces that go up to a 5X or 6X then those sizes will fit a 3X.
When you look at the size description, Shein does a good job of displaying the size the model is wearing and even putting next to the sizes what they’re equivalent to. So PLEASE READ THE SIZE CHART before adding anything to your cart.
Shein Fabrics
Some of the fabrics Shein uses are hit or miss. You’ll find dresses that feel like 1-ply toilet paper. Then you may find a true gem of a garment with a nice jersey knit fabric or even 100% cotton. However there is a lot of polyester and spandex blended pieces. I found a leopard dress (pictured above) see that looked nice on the model but when I received it, it was very thin and lightweight.
In addition to leopard dress I did find a winner piece, which was a belted wool like jacket. It was affordable and the fabric didn’t look too cheap.
Shein Pricing
The pricing on all of Shein clothing is under $50. Which is quite nice in comparison to other trendy affordable plus size fashion brands. You can spend a $100 and get almost a week’s worth of outfits. Especially if you hit the sale section.
Shein Return Policy
Now, I’ve never returned items to Shein but I did read their return policy. You have 45 days to return unwanted items and you will receive your money within 7 days once they received the item. You can also opt to receive your refund as a Shein credit instead of the monetary refund.

I LOVE SHEIN ! I’m US size 20 or 2xL. I got two bathing suits from Shein 2XL and I was nervous but it did fit true to size for one of them. The other one bottoms fit but the top was a bit snug

I really liked how all the outfits fits you; but especially the burgundy skirt set, the pink outfit with pink sandals (just marvelous) you were working it. I’m down to a size 20 now, but still need shapers and our little secrets to look nice in clothing. Its a process, but I love me and just do the best I can. Kudos!

Thanks for the video! I’m a plus girl myself. I think it would be helpful to know the sizes your ordered for yourself to compare to what I would wear.

You are gorgeous. And, you are blessed with beautiful brown skin, so when you show it, it looks great. For us pale white girls, it is gross.
They also sell maternity which you only use for a short time, so it doesn’t matter if the quality isn’t there. I am going to try today for my daughter. Pregnant she is a 1x. I am going to shoot for a 3x. Wish me luck!!

Thank you for having the courage to write this blog and help us curvy gals not only have a more realistic idea of how SheIn clothes might fit us, but also get an honest testimony about how the fabrics feel also. That’s always been my apprehension when shopping for discount clothing online. Of course the company is going to make the clothes look and sound as good as possible, it’s how they make their money. It seems impossible to find any truthful and genuinely helpful information online anymore, because everything is for sale. No one creates content anymore just for the sake of helping to makes people’s lives easier or to help educate them on the facts. It’s a greedy, selfish, self seeking world we live in. So from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for your courage, time, and effort to provide content that is honest, genuine, and truly helpful to others. You are an inspiration, thank you!
