Hey curvy girls all over the world,
This past week has been quite a whirlwind for me. Not only did I experience my first TV appearance but I also experienced my first piece of hate mail. Well, it was more o a hate tweet. I find it so mind boggling that the world really has a problem with plus size women embracing their bodies. Why can’t other people be OK with my body if I am?!
What I’ve learned over the years is to not let other people dictate to me how I should look, what I should wear, and most importantly how I should feel about myself. I don’t feel ashamed that I am plus. Although I do wish I had a smaller waist, I am not ashamed of my cushion of stomach, and as long as I can get up everyday, walk on my own two feet, tackle the subway stairs of New York City (because they are no joke), and walk 20 blocks without breaking a sweat then like Mary J. Blige, “I am doing just fine.”
Now that I got that off my chest, on to today’s ensemble. The focus piece of my look is this snake skin print metallic skirt from Baby Phat. After attending a preview a few weeks ago, I could see how much the brand has changed. They’re really making clothes that are sexy and on trend but they have toned down the tacky club wear look.
Noticing my love for animal prints, Baby Phat sent me this metallic snakeskin skirt from their fall collection. Since it has been a little chilly lately, I wanted to create a cute and simple daytime look with the skirt. I opted for a classic black turtleneck from Banana Republic, suede ankle boots, and my camel fur collared coat.
As for accessories, I stuck with the gold and black theme and doubled up on a cutout cuff, and black art deco bracelet. To add little more interest I threw on a pendent necklace. To see more Baby Phat styles check them out here
I hope you guys are having a great weekend.
