Hey curvy girls all over the world,
Happy Friday! We are kicking things off with a new plus size designer collection from XO Asante formerly known as Rue 114. You guys may remember Rue 114 from their official first launch back in 2012 by Serwah Asante. They use to design sexy body con dresses and skirts with tribal prints. One of the best things about the brand is that they designed clothes for both misses and plus sizes. Now the brand is back with a new name and a new look. Rue 114 is no more and now the brand goes under the name XO Asante. To debut all of their newness, they launched their first capsule collection called XO Asante African Barbie and features plus size model Liris Crosse.
In their own words, “The African Barbie capsule collection is our version of a Barbie wardrobe – set to a techno-color drum beat. We chose to incorporate our love of color and pattern to develop a unique line of bold African print textiles in versatile fabrications such as Lycra blend, neoprene, stretch cotton and organza.”The African inspired collection is a mash up of bold colors and wild prints ranging from floral to tie dye. It looks like black Barbie decided to embrace her heritage in a modern yet youthful way. The body con fits are made up of stretch roma ponti to give you a comfortable non clingy fit. One of my favorite pieces from the collection is the printed knee length hoodie dress (pictured above). You will also find printed jackets, pants, and even a swimsuit in the the XO Asante African Barbie Collection.I love how model Liris Crosse is just exuding the look of an African Queen. The colors pop against her dark skin and the clothes just fit her body perfectly.XO Asante has even dabbled with accessories. In the capsule collection they have served up matching duffle bag set and even spectator hats.
XO Asante is offering sizes ranging from small-3X and the prices start at $80 for a top, $180 for dresses, and up to $360 for a trench coat.
