Hey curvy girls all over the world,
As plus size women, we always hear about all the things we shouldn’t wear because it will make us look bigger. People are always trying to give us tips on how to look thinner, as if all plus size women are ashamed of their bodies. In all honesty, I feel that there is a new breed of plus size women who aren’t afraid or ashamed to be plus size. This new breed of plus size women wear whatever they want without any apologies. I am part of the new breed of plus size women who loves the skin I am in. We wear crop tops, skinny jeans, miniskirts, short shorts, and everything in between. Sometimes, I think I wish we had this kind of movement when I was a kid because my self-esteem would have been through the roof.
Within the past 10 years plus size fashion and body image has changed for the better. More brands and designers are starting to incorporate plus sizes and veteran plus size retailers have ditched designing ill-fitting sacks of clothing for more tailored of the moment styles. One brand in particular that has completely changed not only the fashion and style they offer but they have placed themselves at the forefront of the whole plus size body positive movement. Lane Bryant has been stepping it up in the style department tremendously. With designer collaborations and the birth of their 6th and Lane collection I have been quite smitten with them. I’ve always believed that clothes are magical. When clothes look, feel, and fit good, you feel your best. Within the past few years Lane Bryant has been making plus size women feel and look their best.
Their fall 2015 collection is everything and more. They have everything from leather and fringe skirts to wide leg pants and faux fur coats. Even their classic pieces have been revamped. The pencil skirts now come with a side zipped split, and the denim selection has everything from boyfriend distressed jeans to flare legs. Lane Bryant has found a way to offer style for both the classic and trendy plus size woman and to add a little cherry on top, the fit of the new styles are on point. Everything is cut true to size.
I teamed up with Lane Bryant and Pop Sugar to show you some of their new fall styles. All the pieces I am wearing embrace my plus size curves and shows you that plus size women are chic and stylish too. When it comes to having a positive body image, the most important thing to remember is to not become someone else’s definition of beauty. Embrace and love the skin you’re in.
