Hey curvy girls all over the world,
We all know how hard it is to get designer clothes in plus sizes. Even big stars like Melissa McCarthy and Leslie Jones have had a difficult time getting dresses for red carpet events. (Read HERE). While plus size fashion has evolved, the fashion industry is still having a hard time catering to women above a size 14. Brands like Lane Bryant and Target have come to the rescue with plus size designer collaborations to help bridge the gap. Lane Bryant in particular has been the leader in bringing designer style to plus size women. They’ve had four successful designer collaborations. Just last week, they announced a fifth designer collaboration with Prabal Gurung.

In March of 2017 Lane Bryant will debut its Prabal Gurung spring collection. Exciting, right? Prabal Gurung is a well loved designer by celebrities of all ages. You’ve seen stars like Zoe Saldana, Blake Lively, Eva Mendes, Kerry Washington, and more wear his pieces. Even First Lady Michelle Obama has worn pieces from the designer. So, to hear that he is teaming up with mega plus size retailer, Lane Bryant, it’s truly music to my ears.

After announcing the collaboration, Linda Heasley, CEO of Lane Bryant told Women’s Wear Daily, “He can’t get buyers in department stores to buy his large sizes so he wants to work with us.” I’ve always believed that there are designers who want to do plus or atleast add a few larger sizes but sometimes buyers don’t want them because their stores or boutiques don’t cater to plus sizes.
Prabal told WWD magazine, “He wants his clothing that goes beyond “straight sizes” to actually get in stores.“When the buyers come, they are buying to what they think they need.”
Prabal Gurung for Lane Bryant will offer two collections. It will launch in 180 stores. Prices will range from $48-$398.
Are any of you excited for this collaboration?
