Just wrapped another season of fashion week. As always, its fun to dress up and see all the amazing looks on and off the runway. This is my New York Fashion Week style Diary and a recap of the outfits I wore.
Every season I attend New York Fashion Week, Its important for me to represent for the plus size girls. So, of course I wore some of my favorite plus size brands and designers. Especially since we don’t get to see much plus size fashion on the runway.
Plus Size New York Fashion Week Style
Since it was cold with some mild days, my looks are a blend of winter and fall outfits. And yes, some of these looks include open toe sandals. New York City weather has been all over the place. However, that didn’t stop me from serving some chic looks.
Here’s a breakdown of everything I wore. Including accessories.
Day One
On day one of New york Fashion Week I went to the Adore Me runway show. It was a fun kickoff party. I wanted to wear something with sequins and lace, so, I opted for a two piece outfit combo.
This look consists of a black lace mock neck top from Amazon The Drop and an Eloquii red sequin skirt with a high low hem. Since this event was in the evening, it was cold. To keep warm, I slipped on a pair of black opaque tights.
As for shoes, I went with a pair of black velvet ankle stap platforms from ASOS. And for earrings, a pair of pearl encrusted Amazon hoops elevated the look. I wore a matte red lip from Sephora collection to compliment the look.
Day Two
I was invited to a size inclusivity panel. It was hosted by Elle Magazine Digital Beauty Editor Danielle James and body positive activist Sarah Chiwaya. Guest panelist were super model Ashley Graham, stylist Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, and model Director Mina White.
For this event, I went with a fun and colorful popcorn dress designed by Mara Hoffman. I’m such a huge fan of Mara. She offers extended sizes up to a 3X and size 20. Her popcorn dresses are my favorite pieces to buy.
The dress made a statement all on its own. I didn’t feel like it needed much accessorizing. Since it was a maxi length with a high neck, a belt was the perfect accessory to break up the print.
For a bag, I went with a woven vegan leather gold top handle bag. My suede knot front platforms made for a comfortable choice. While a pair of Khoi gold spiral earrings finished the look.
Day Three
Every season my New York fashion week style is all about statement making pieces. And for me a printed suit makes a bold statement. Last year I wore a striped pant suit.
This year, I wore a houndstooth suit to the Asia Fashion Collection runway show.
The suit is from Lane Bryant. It fit perfectly. As if it were tailor made for me. I accessorized by adding a blue croc top handle bag. And leather gloves.
For added drama I draped an ASOS black wool coat over my shoulders. And I went with my black suede platform sandals again. What really elevated this look for me was the flower pin on the lapel of the blazer. Scored that from Amazon.
And for the finishing touches on the ensemble, I added my Khoi spiral earrings and a pair of oversized Gucci sunglasses.
Next to the Mara Hoffman dress, this was my 2nd favorite look I wore.
Day Four
On Day four of NYFW I attended the Yutee Rone show in midtown. This was a special show because I was personally invited by super model Liris Crosse. She was opening the show and I defintely wanted to support.
After a week of running from show to show, I wanted to keep my look simple, yet make a statement. So, I opted for a striped faux fur coat from Venus. A pleated faux leather skirt and sheer top from Amazon. The look was completed with a pair of suede knee high boots from Eloquii, leather gloves, and pearl hoop earrings from Amazon.
Day Five
My last day of NYFW shows. I didn’t make it to any shows because of a snow storm. Instead, I sent one of my photographers to cover them because they were already in Manhattan. And I was coming from Brooklyn.
Even though I didn’t go, this is what I had planned to wear. I typically shoot my fashion week looks in advance because it gets so hectic on the actual day of shows.
In the winter season its all about coats and boots for me. I loved this pink plus size teddy coat from ASOS Curve. It went perfectly with my purple patent leather boots from Vince camuto. And to elevate the look, I slipped on a pair of colored sunglasses from Amazon. And my Brandon Blackwood trunk bag.
I also broke out a pair of gold metal chanel pendant earrings.
