Self care seems to be a popular topic at the moment. As a mom, it can be difficult finding time for myself. That’s why today, I’m sharing 3 of my most helpful self care tips for moms. So many of us are busy running around doing any and everything for other people. It causes us to forget about ourselves. I have to admit that I am guilty of that. I wake up early to get my son ready for school. I clean the house, go to work, cook dinner, and then get my son ready for bed. By the time I sit down and relax, I’m too tired and just fall asleep. Which means that in a 24 hour period I did nothing for myself.
Self Care Tips For Moms
To me self care is about taking time for the things you want to do. The things that are important to you well being. Activities like exercising, reading, or even a spa day can be just what you need to keep you sane and happy. There are a few things I do to give myself the best self care I possibly can. Let me breakdown why it’s important for me to do these things everyday. Especially as a mom.
Here are my top 3 self care tips for moms
Follow A Morning Routine/Evening Routine
Having a morning routine is extremely important to me. Everyday I get up at 5:30AM. Since my son gets up at 7AM, I like to utilize the mornings for me. It’s the only time of the day where I’m free to focus on me. I find that early in the morning is the best time for me to get in some self care because its before anyone else in the house gets up. When I get up, I like to say a prayer of gratitude and thanks. Then I read one of my daily devotionals. After that, I write a to do list of all the things I need to get done for the day.
If for some reason I can’t get this done in the morning, I incorporate this in the evening time.
Go For A Walk
Once I get my spirit and mind right, I throw on one of my athleisure sets, which is a pair of comfortable leggings, and a coordinating top.
Currently, I love this striped hoodie top , black leggings , and black yoga jacket from Catherine’s. They are so comfortable, I could fall asleep in them.
Once I’m dressed, I head out to take a 30 minute walk. I go down to my local pier and just take in the fresh air and sights of Brooklyn. This is the time for me to reflect and just be alone with my thoughts. Having this alone time allows me to prepare for my day.
Journal Your Thoughts & Feelings
After my walk, I sit down and pull out my journal. I like to write down my thoughts, ideas, and how I’m feeling. There is something about journaling that really clears my mind. I also use my journal to reflect back on. It’s a good way to see what changes I’ve made in my life or need to make.
As a working mom it can seem challenging to find time for yourself. I implore you to find the time. If you need to wake up early or carve out an hour of time in the evening, please make time to take care of yourself.
Just doing these 3 things on a daily basis keeps me sane and helps me to be more productive throughout the day. In order for me to give my kid the best I have to be feeling my best.
If you like taking walks, jogging, or just need to run errands and want to look cute while doing it, then make sure you checkout some of Catherine’s athleisure wear.
