If you need ideas on creating early spring plus size outfits without buying new clothes, continue reading.
It seems like 2025 is the year of we got clothes at home. If you watch Tik Tok, Youtube, or even Instagram Reels, you’ll notice fashion lovers are tightening their wallets. You can blame it on the rising prices from clothing retailers. Or blame it on the fact that the quality of clothing no longer justifies the rising prices.
Even the designer luxury market is taking a hit. People are holding on to their old clothes and just re-styling them in a new way. And I don’t blame them. Every season we hear about all the new trends and run out to buy a few pieces. Only to hang them to the back of the closet and never think about them again.
Well, this year I have chosen to be more intentional when it comes to my wardrobe. I only want to buy things I absolutely love and can style with atleast three other pieces in my closet. In order for me to do that, I have to shop my closet.
EARLY SPRING PLUS SIZE OUTFITS FROM MY CLOSET
In a weekend, I went through my closet and created three piles. A pile for selling, donating, and keeping. Since its spring I focused on those clothes the most. As I was sifting through all of my clothes, I realized I already owned some of the top spring trends of 2025.
I pulled out a few pieces and decided to create early some spring plus size outfits. As a New Yorker, the weather here is up and down. One day its 70 degrees and the next its 45. It made sense for me to create a medley of looks that would be perfect on a chilly spring day or a warm one. We call these transition outfits.
POLKA DOT SPRING PLUS SIZE OUTFIT
One of the popular spring trends of 2025 is polka dots. I found this polka dot bow shirt in my closet from last year. And decided to rock it with a faux leather tube dress I bought two years ago. Since the top and the dress were bold, I kept accessories to a minimum. A pair of silver hoop earrings and polka dot mesh pumps completed this look.

If I wanted to wear the top again, I can style it casually by pairing it with wide leg jeans.
CARGO PANTS SPRING OUTFIT
One of my favorite pair of pants to wear for spring is cargo pants. And there are a variety of plus size cargo pants options. Instead of buying a new pair, I opted to shop my closet and re-style a pair I bought a few years ago from Fashion To Figure. To create a sporty casual look I slipped on a beige varsity jacket from Nordstrom.
In addition to the varsity jacket, I went with a classic white button up shirt and nude ankle strap sandals to pull the look together. Most people would’ve opted for sneakers but if I’m being true to myself, heels were more up my alley. To complete this spring plus size outfit, a few gold bracelets and a bold red lip finished this look.

If I wanted to wear the varsity jacket again, I could rock it over a dress and add sneakers.
SHEER PLUS SIZE FULL SKIRT SPRING OUTFIT
As I looked through my closet, I realized I had a sheer mesh crinkle cut plus size skirt. It still had tags on it. Sometimes when you have a lot of clothes, its easy to forget what you have. And I forgot all about this skirt. Since its spring, I said lets put together a feminine look with it.
After going through my drawers to find a top. I saw a bronze off the shoulder sweater and remembered I had a pair of matching heels that would go perfect with it. Then I added some gold earrings and bracelets for a chic look.

The next time I’m going to style this skirt with a denim top.
WIDE LEG JEANS SPRING OUTFIT
Although, I will forever be a skinny jeans type of girl, I’ve been enjoying wide leg jeans. Especially distressed styles. My favorite pair are from Torrid. Now, I wear these atleast twice a week. However, I was looking for a top that I don’t wear to rock with the jeans. In my closet clean out, I found this pink ruffled off the shoulder top. And this one had tags on it as well. I had it for about two years.
I paired the pieces together and added white mesh mules for a fun bright early spring plus size outfit.
