It’s been a few years since fall fashion trends had me excited to shop. This year, the fall fashion trends are a trip down memory lane because many of the trends are from the 90’s and early-mid 2000’s.
This years guide is going to be a little bit different. Since some runway trends don’t transfer into the stores. I’m breaking down the trends I’ve seen on the runway as well as the trends I’m seeing currently on the retail market.

LEOPARD PRINT
Leopard print is one of the most popular fall 2024 trends. It’s everywhere. We actually saw it early spring of 2024. You may remember when the mob wife aesthetic went viral on tik tok, everybody was looking for leopard print.
In addition to mob wife aesthetic being a catalyst for the reemergence of the trend, designers like Dior, Zimmerman, and Versace also featured leopard print looks on their 2024 fall runways. I don’t think of leopard print as a trend. It’s more of a wardrobe staple for me. It can be considered a neutral to some. And it can be a bold print to others.
Nevertheless, this trend is going strong for fall 2024. You can checkout brands like Anthropologie, Walmart, City Chic, and Pretty Little Things for plus size leopard print pieces. Below are a few that caught my eye.

WESTERN COWBOY
We can just go ahead and thank Beyonce for making this a trend. Cowboy Carter had us all ready to throw on our rancher hats and cowboy boots. However, designers like L’Agence also featured western looks in their fall collections. Now, we didn’t really see this trend on the runway, however we saw elements of it, like fringe details, rancher hats, big buckle belts, and vintage denim.
Although the height of this trend reigned supreme during the spring/summer season. It’s still going strong. What I love about this trend is that you can also make it feminine with ruffled dresses or frilly tops.
If you like this trend, quite a few brands have a slew of plus size options.

BUBBLE HEM SKIRTS
Designers like Coperni & Miu Miu deserve the credit for the return of the bubble skirt trend. Coperni featured a bevy of bubble hem structured dresses during their fall 204 runway show. While Miu Miu featured floral printed midi bubble skirts in bright colors paired with casual knits.
This trend has definitely transfered over into plus sizes. From mini to midi lengths there are a slew of plus size bubble skirt options.

SHADES OF RED & WINE
One of this season’s hottest color is red. Last year rich bright reds dominated the fall and spring 2023 runways. And we are still seeing it. However, we are seeing a variety of shades. A mix of bright and deeper shades of red.
Victoria Beckham, Saint Laurent, and Sergio Hudson featured darker shades of red during their fashion show. While designers like Carolina Herrera, Christian Siriano, and Ferrari featured a variety of bright reds.
These are a few deeper toned reds that will create some chic fall outfits.

DARK DENIM
Denim has been trending heavily for the past couple of seasons. We’ve seen skinny jeans take a backseat. Wide leg and baggy jeans are on the rise, and denim on denim is the new matching set. For fall 2024 the trend is dark denim.
Carolina Hererra featured a slew of dark wash denim dresses, wide leg jeans, and matching dark denim corset top in her fall 2024 collection.

If you’re looking for the “IT” texture of the season, then get your closet ready for suede. It’s a refreshing option since leather has been dominating the fall season for the past few years.
From boots to bags and outerwear, suede is taking over.
