Joe Biden and Kamala Harris’s inauguration was a historical event. It brought out the who’s who’s of politics and entertainment. While I cheered and celebrated the moment from the comfort of my home, I couldn’t help but notice Michelle Obama’s Inauguration outfit.
The entire world noticed the her. Media outlets couldn’t stop talking about how chic and beautiful our forever first lady looked.
When Michelle stepped out with Barack she commanded everyone’s attention. Mrs. Obama almost always gets it right when it comes to her outfit choices. She is the type of woman that doesn’t allow clothes to wear her.
Michelle Obama Inauguration Outfit
For the inaugauration Michelle went with a monochromatic look designed by Sergio Hudson. Sergio is a black male designer who has worked with celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Pharrell Williams.
He has also designed looks for Vice President Kamala Harris.
For the inauguration, Michelle rocked the heck out of a gorgeous berry colored coat, wide leg pants, a turtleneck, and a gold buckled belt all in the same shade family. She completed her look with black leather gloves and black pointed toe boots.
The simplistic look made a powerful impact on fashion lovers. I’m willing to put a little money on monochromatic looks becoming a trend for winter 2022. We’ll probably see the berry color she wore as a trend too.
I loved the look so much that I wanted to recreate it in plus size. So, I browsed the net to find pieces in plus size that would get me as close to Michelle’s look as possible.
During my search, I found some great options for Michelle Obama inauguration outfit. Checkout what I found below.
I started off searching for a similar coat in oxblood, red, and in a plum color. Here’s what I found.
I also love this shawl collar coat as a similar option.
Turtlenecks are everywhere during the winter. However, trying to find a plus size berry colored turtleneck proved to be challenging. Luckily, I found a burgundy shade which works with the coat.
Surprisingly there were a few wide leg pant options in a berry color. I love this pair from plus size designer Jibri.
If you want something a bit more affordable, Forever 21 has a belted wide leg pant.
Michelle’s belt is custom made from Sergio Hudson so I opted for a black belt with a similar buckle.
In addition to the belt, another accessory she wore was a pair of black leather gloves. I found a pair of leather lambskin touch screen gloves.
It looks like Mrs. Obama is wearing a pair of black suede boots. I’m not sure if they’re ankle boots or knee high boots. Here’s a nice suede pair from Schutz.
