It’s been awhile since H&M did a designer collaboration. In the past, H&M had successful collaborations with Jimmy Choo, Roberto Cavalli, and Erdem just to name a few. This month they announced their Moschino X H&M collaboration. The Italian designer brand is known for its fun and bold street style aesthetic. Designer Jeremy Scott has become a household name himself for creating the loveable designs for Moschino.
While there is general excitement about the collaboration itself. In the plus size community, many are wondering will the collaboration offer plus sizes. Most of H&M’s designer collaborations in the past never included plus. However, for this one, so many people have high hopes. Why are they wishing and hoping? Well, simply because they spotted ONE plus size model in the campaign.
Body positive activist and model Barbie Ferreira is featured throughout the Moschino X H&M campaign. Ya’ll know anytime we see a brand use a plus size model, we are always hoping they offer some plus size options. Well, I’m choosing not to get hyped up about it this time.
H&M X Moschino Collaboration
Barbie being part of the ad campaign could just be the brands way of showing a little size diversity. Something in my mind is telling me not to fool myself hoping for plus size options from this collaboration.
Why I’m Not Getting My Hopes Up
-There is only one plus size model featured in the Moschino X H&M campaign and she is on the smaller spectrum of plus. Barbie looks like she’s about a size 12/14. Meaning, she can wear regular sizes in H&M.

-If the collection came in plus, they would’ve definitely included that in the press release and would have listed the sizing. Most importantly, they probably would have included more than one plus size model in it.
-Lastly, have you seen H&M’s plus size section? We are clearly an afterthought. They haven’t advertised much about their plus size section in years. They quietly took the plus size section out of most of the stores. The clothes are bland and if they can’t put any love into the plus size section now, I highly doubt that they would do so with the Moschino collaboration.
After the collaboration was announced, Jeremy Scott gave a breakdown of what we could expect. Jeremy says,
“Like all my collections, it’s humor meets haute couture meets the street. That’s been a hallmark of my work for Moschino, and I want to continue to explore that with this collection. For fans of the brand, it should feel a little like a greatest hits collection, but I promise it will still be new, still feel fresh, even though we include some winks, some hints from the past.”
The Moschino X H&M collaboration is expected to hit select stores and sold online on November 8th. Prices will range from $20-$400.

Checkout Plus Size Model Barbie Ferreria Moschino X H&M Looks
Although, I don’t believe there will be any plus size options, we can still look at how fly Barbie looks in the campaign. I can also acknowledge that this is an amazing opportunity for her. Let’s checkout some of the pieces she’s wearing.
Barbie is sporting a baseball jersey style dress or oversized top with cartoon characters on it.
Checkout this silver jeweled encrusted bustier and black fur coat. How cute are those Moschino earrings.
Barbie also is rocking a sporty look in a cartoon style sweatsuit with Moschino slides.
Barbie is rocking some really dope pieces from the collection. My best guess is that some of the pieces from the H&M X Moschino collaboration will probably go up to a size 14 or maybe a size 16. Anything larger than that, I will definitely be surprised.
So are you going to be checking for the collection when it launches?
