We are just a couple of weeks away from the official start of summer. This is what I call prime time. You should take inventory of your wardrobe now and see what basic pieces you are missing or need an upgrade of. Summer is the time for carefree no fuss dressing. You need to be able to throw on an outfit and go. The best way to have less days of not knowing what to wear involves you building a wardrobe of summer essentials. Today, I’m breaking down the summer essentials every plus size girl should have.
I’m taking you on a shopping trip with me to Catherine’s plus size store in Paramus, NJ. Right now, Catherine’s is having their semi-annual sale and this is the perfect sale to stock up on your summer essentials. For plus size women, you will be surprised at how many cute and easy basics Catherine’s offer up to a size 30. Catherine’s tops, jean shorts, tees, and t-shirt dresses are all pieces that will keep you looking casual and cute during the summer heat. I walked around the store looking for tees, Catherine’s tops, shorts, and dresses. There were quite a few pieces that caught my eye. The semi-annual sale also includes intimates like cute undies and bra’s.

Since, I told you that I was looking for summer essentials, I wanted to breakdown the summer essentials I found at Catherine’s.
Plus Size Activewear
Every plus size girl should have at least one cute and functional activewear set. Whether you hit the gym or like to take morning jogs or walks, add or upgrade your activewear. I found this super cute floral printed activewear set.
Plus Size T-shirt Dresses
I’m a huge fan of t-shirt dresses in the summer because you can dress them up or down. You can throw on a pair sneakers or flats for a casual daytime look. For going out at night you can slip on a pair of heels and a clutch to grab dinner. It’s a good travel piece too. I found this super cute red knot asymmetrical hem t-shirt dress at Catherine’s.

Plus Size Maxi Dresses
Typically, I’m not a fan of maxi dresses but I have to admit, they’re necessary. Especially on days when you don’t want to wear any shapewear and you need something that is loose and stylish. While I was browsing the Paramus store, I found this tropical print knot maxi dress. It’s a really good vacation piece. I liked the color combo and the length on this maxi. It wasn’t too long on me.
Catherine’s Tops and Shorts
No summer wardrobe is complete without tops and shorts. I found that Catherine’s had a healthy assortment of both. The Catherine’s tops that I saw were cute and had fun prints on them. I became obsessed with Catherine’s jean shorts. The fit was truly amazing. I liked that the shorts came in a variety of colors.
After shopping Catherine’s semi-annual sale, I bought a lot of pieces. I left the store with a huge garment bag filled with shorts, tops, and dresses.
Luckily, it has been pretty warm this past week, so I decided to wear one of my outfits I got from Catherine’s. I’m wearing an orange plaid Catherine’s top and my favorite buy, the knit jean shorts. To add a little flair to the shorts, I rolled them up twice to create a cuff. I also added a gold chain link necklace I picked up from Catherine’s. It was a very comfy ensemble to grab a coffee and walk around the park in. Check it out below.
